It’s a juvenile fiction book about a teenage girl who is abused by her father and her mother won’t stand up for her. She winds up pregnant (I don’t think by the father, just a boyfriend or something) and runs away. She moves to another town and either stays at a hotel or a home for unwed mothers, I can’t remember. She gets a job working at a restaurant, where the owner of the restaurant is obsessed with the color red! lol She becomes close friends with the owner, as well as her so-workers.
